The Tacoma Film Festival is Back | Oct 5-12, 2023

The highly anticipated Tacoma Film Festival has officially revealed this year’s dates and offered a sneak peek at some of the featured films.

This exciting week-long event is scheduled to run from October 5th to 12th and will be hosted at the Grand Cinema on Fawcett Avenue. Attendees can look forward to a week filled with captivating new films from all over the globe, including special events, lively parties, and engaging Q&A sessions with filmmakers. Notably, the festival will shine a spotlight on the thriving world of Pacific Northwest filmmaking.

Although the complete lineup of films, along with detailed scheduling, will remain under wraps until the week of Labor Day, the Grand Cinema has already unveiled two of its highly anticipated headliner films.

The festival’s grand opening will feature the screening of the eagerly awaited regional film “Fantasy A Gets a Mattress,” helmed by the promising directors David Norman Lewis and Noah Zoltan Sofian. This captivating film showcases the journey of Fantasy A, a real-life rapper with autism from the Seattle area, as he embarks on an adventure to attain fame while in search of the perfect mattress. The screening promises the presence of the filmmakers, cast, and crew.

Wade Neal, Executive Director of the Grand Cinema, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to give Fantasy A its Tacoma premiere at The Tacoma Film Festival. From the moment we received their submission, it was evident that the filmmakers had something exceptional to offer. We are eagerly anticipating the opening night and are committed to making it a lively celebration of the artistic talent in the Pacific Northwest.”

The festival’s centerpiece will be the documentary “Immediate Family,” directed by Denny Tedesco, scheduled for screening on October 7th. This compelling documentary delves into the lives and careers of influential rock and pop music icons such as Keith Richards, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and many more. Tedesco himself will be present at the screening and will engage in a post-viewing Q&A session.

VIP passes are already available for purchase, and general-attendance tickets will be accessible starting September 12th through the Tacoma Film Festival website.
